Welcome! I’m so happy you’ve found your way here! My name is Megan and I’m a Mindfulness Coach and Mental Health Therapist. While my background is in therapy, I’m excited to now offer coaching services as part of my practice. On this website you’ll find a variety of online offerings including coaching, therapy and an online nature-based course titled “A Wild New School”.
My role as both coach and therapist is that of listener, supporter, collaborator and cheerleader to my clients. I love supporting clients both 1:1 and in group settings to become more present in their lives and to deepen self-care practices. I believe that self-care is about making space for your mind, body, and spirit and that from this place you can truly shine and discover what lights you up in life! All of my work is based on a foundation of mindfulness and learning to listen to the body in order to build greater trust in oneself. At this time, all of my offerings are online and offer different levels of support. Depending on your need, coaching, therapy or A Wild New School could be perfect for you!
Coaching: This is a short-term, goal oriented process for those who are ready and motivated to make immediate changes in pursuit of greater presence and self-care in life. A typical coaching series is six sessions over three months with the option to expand this to a longer series. Email support is provided between sessions and action steps are set in each session to keep you moving forward towards your mindfulness and self-care goals.
Therapy: This is an open-ended service that provides space for processing past and present struggles with emphasis on gaining insight and learning coping skills to more effectively face life’s challenges. Therapy begins with an in-depth assessment of your needs and continues for as long as the you desire this level of support. Sessions typically occur weekly and last 50 minutes. Due to licensure as an LMFT in the state of Oregon, I can only see therapy clients who reside in Oregon.
A Wild New School: This is a collaboration with Career Coach Megan Leatherman that offers an online community and nature-based learning environment for individuals undergoing life or career transitions. Sessions correspond with each of the four seasons and last for 8 weeks. Included with this online course are introductory coaching sessions, mindfulness exercises, journaling prompts and lessons from nature to support you in your life’s journey. I’m originally from Ohio and have been living in Oregon for about 18 years. I have a passion for dance, hiking, the outdoors, photography and cooking. I love the Pacific Northwest and am happy to call it home. I recently moved from Portland to the Oregon coast and while I miss many of the amenities of the city, I feel more connected to the natural world in my current location. I find nature incredibly calming and a way to slow down and be more present in the midst of a chaotic world. Much of my work now centers around reconnecting with and learning from the world around us.
I’ve gone to therapy on and off my entire life and decided to become a therapist because of the immense benefit I have received in my personal life. For me, therapy has been beneficial in developing a relationship with another human that validates and supports my personal growth journey towards greater authenticity and trust in myself. My personal experiences with coaching have helped me move beyond a place of maintenance to really thriving in a place of greater purpose and fulfillment. My personal growth is a journey and I still experience anxiety, shame and perfectionism at times in my life. I also experience greater peace, acceptance and joy on a daily basis. Each day is a new beginning and I continue to strive for personal growth one day at a time. BACKGROUND AND TRAINING: Shortly after moving to Oregon, I finished my undergraduate degree and continued on to receive a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon. I graduated in 2007 with an M.Ed. and moved to Portland at that time to begin a job in residential treatment working with adolescents. I started my private practice for therapy in 2009 with Wise Counsel and Comfort and have worked with a range of individuals, couples and families over the years.
In the fall of 2018 I moved to the Oregon coast and transitioned my therapy practice to be exclusively online. At the same time, I began training with the Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy and became a certified life coach in April of 2019. I’m happy to now offer coaching services as part of my online offerings.
My working collaboration with Megan Leatherman began in the spring of 2018, although we had known each other as colleagues and friends for several years at that time. Our first project was a workbook for individuals undergoing career transitions and has since developed into an online nature-based course offered each season. Our current course “Summer: Expand” is currently wrapping up and we are now preparing for our Fall course “Begin Again”.
